Loft Conversion: Before

Before the conversion, the homeowners had a loft with minimal function. In order to maximize the usability of their home, alterations had to be made to the loft to give it a specific function. It was determined that converting the loft to a bedroom space would be the best choice for the homeowner and would make the best use of the space.

The picture you are seeing in this section is the loft before we converted it to a bedroom. It was a small space with a glass railing that faced a floor-to-ceiling window onlooking the patio below. The minimal space made it hard for the homeowner to use it as anything other than storage, making it undesirable and an unusable area.

We were confident we could help the homeowner transform the space into something they can use and gain real value from for years to come.

The Upgrade Process

To convert the loft to a functional bedroom, additional floor space was needed to accommodate a bed and any other items that the homeowner needed in the bedroom.

The first step was to tear up all the flooring and take down the glass railing so we could add more floor space. Wooden beams were added for framing where the additional floor space will be. Once the additional floor space was created, a wall was added to complete the room. To make better use of the additional wall, we added a shelf space on top for extra storage.

Finally, once we had the door and wall completed, we added hardwood floors and painted the additional wall to complete the look.

Loft Conversion: After

Overall, this was a huge value add project and we were happy to have helped the homeowner with their new space. There were some technical accommodations that needed to be made which we worked through with the homeowner in order to bring their vision to reality. Not only will the homeowner and guests benefit from the additional room, but it is also a great value-add, which will increase the value of their home if they ever decide to sell.

The homeowner now has an additional bedroom they can use for themselves as an office space, storage, or for guests.
