Full-Home Renovation: Before

Before the full home renovation of this old condo in Vancouver, it was a typical example of the city's historical architecture. The building retained many of its original features such as high ceilings, mouldings, and hardwood flooring. However, over the years, these features had become worn and dated, and the home was in need of modern updates to bring it up to contemporary standards. The kitchen and bathrooms were particularly outdated, with old appliances, fixtures, and tile work that had become discoloured and damaged over time. The home's electrical and plumbing systems were also in need of upgrading to meet current codes and standards. Overall, the home was in need of a complete overhaul to restore it to its former glory and make it suitable for modern living.

The Renovation Process

The renovation started out as a simple bathroom upgrade but quickly expanded to the whole house. The full home renovation process was a comprehensive and transformative project. The first step involved removing walls and reconfiguring the floor plan to create a more open and modern living space. This involved getting permits and moving walls around to create a larger living room, kitchen, and dining area. In order to preserve the home's historical character, a brick accent wall was added to the living room, which gave the space a warm and inviting feel.

The outdated kitchen and bathrooms were completely gutted and renovated, with new appliances, fixtures, and tile work installed. New plumbing and electrical systems were also installed to bring the home up to code and ensure that it was energy-efficient and safe. The hardwood flooring was refinished to bring back its original lustre, and the mouldings and high ceilings were restored to their former glory.
